In this aspect of the sport, which is growing in popularity, Rob examines the reasons why scentwork is so highly valued by dogs, and explains how we can find activities that are mutually rewarding for both dog and handler.
He starts at the novice stages, conditioning a dog to a target scent using kind, caring and consistent training that is based on 100 per cent positive reinforcement. He then progresses to the art of laying a track, negotiating turns, and finding articles on the track. He concludes with some fun, scenario-based training exercises, and a troubleshooting section to address any issues that may arise in the training process.
